Licensed Field Agent Services

"Field agent" is the term the Queensland Office of Fair Trading uses for the licensed role performed by every member of the SEQPS in-person team. In Queensland, you cannot lawfully conduct private process serving, debt-collection field calls, repossession or mortgagee-in-possession work without a current Field Agent licence under the Debt Collectors (Field Agents and Collection Agents) Act 2014. We have held those licences continuously and are members of the Institute of Mercantile Agents.

What a Licensed Field Agent Does

Beyond serving documents, a Queensland Field Agent is engaged for in-person work where remote contact has run its course:

• Re-establish contact with a debtor or respondent who has gone silent on phone, email and letter
• Negotiate repayment arrangements face-to-face and document them in writing
• Complete a statement of financial position with the customer at their address
• Confirm occupancy of a property prior to a bank possession or VRO enforcement
• Skip tracing when a customer has moved without a forwarding address, locating updated contact details for service or enforcement
• Deliver letter demands with proof of personal attendance
• Gather evidence for a substituted-service application, observation of an address across varied times, with time-stamped reports
• Support enforcement hearings on behalf of solicitors

SEQPS Field Agents work the full SEQ footprint, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Beenleigh, Logan, Ipswich, Beaudesert, Boonah, Caboolture, Tweed Coast and Northern Rivers NSW. Every attendance is conducted in compliance with the ASIC/ACCC Debt Collection Guidelines where applicable, the Privacy Act 1988, and the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 1999 (QLD) for service-of-process work.

How Field Agent Engagements Work

We agree the brief with you in advance, the specific questions that need answers, the scripts for sensitive conversations, and the trigger points for escalation. Each attendance is followed by a written field report covering:

• Outcome of the visit
• Statements made by the customer or occupant
• Observations about the property, vehicles and visible assets
• Photographic evidence where appropriate
• Time-stamped attempt records

The reports themselves are captured in the field through dedicated process server software.
